## How to play

1. Groups of four at a goal with a crossbar (five-a-side, futsal or pop-up). Two keepers stand in the goal together; the other two are the shooters. Mark a shooting spot 8 to 10 metres out.
2. One shooter strikes from the spot. His partner waits on the goal line beside the post, ready for a rebound.
3. If the keepers parry it, it comes back off the frame, or it goes behind for a corner, one keeper steps out as a defender: it is a live 2v1 plus keeper until a goal, a catch, or the ball goes out.
4. Scoring: a direct goal 1, after a keeper's parry 2, from a corner 3, off the post and in 4, off the bar and in 5, off the angle of post and bar and in 10.
5. Each shooter has three shots. After six, the pairs swap roles. Run as many groups as you have goals.

## The decision it trains

A direct goal is worth only 1, so the shooter has a real choice. Two points behind with one shot left, aiming at the post, the bar or the keeper's hands for a rebound makes more sense than aiming at the net. The partner reads where the ball will drop and arrives as it does. The keepers choose too: guard the goal, or stand by the posts to stop the shots that pay most. Once the ball is loose it is 2v1: finish, pass, or draw the defender first.

## Make it harder or easier

- **Too hard:** move the spot in to 6 metres and let the shooter take one small touch first, so the ball is already rolling.
- **Too easy:** move the spot back to 12 metres and start the partner level with the shooter instead of on the goal line.
- **Younger players:** one keeper instead of two, and simpler scoring: a direct goal 1, any rebound goal 2.

## What to ask at the breaks

- "Behind with one shot left, where did you aim, and why?"
- "Where did you wait for the rebound, and how did you choose that spot?"
- "As keepers, when did you guard the goal and when did you guard the posts?"

## Where it comes from

A Brazilian street tradition with no named inventor. Alcides Scaglia writes in his 2003 thesis that its rules change from state to state and street to street, the scoring most of all; in his version a corner pays 2, the post 5, the bar 10 and the angle 15. Freire, as Scaglia cites him, named it, as Repetida, one of four games a children's football programme could be built on. The scoring here follows Danny Carvalho, director of coaching at Corinthians Campinas Youth Club.
