At the end of 2024 we launched a new themed series, the “Coach Toolbox.” It is far more hands-on: every part is a practical, on-pitch session, with the theory woven into the drills right there on the field, so you immerse yourself fully in Hobbit-style training.
The content is more modular: each day focuses on one of the coach tools the Hobbit system uses every day, so the training goals and outcomes are clearer and more tangible.
After two editions in Shanghai and one in Qingdao, all well received and in steady demand, we are bringing it to Hangzhou this time.
Hobbit Coach Clinic
Three core elements, three warm-up phases and chase games: a fresh take on the traditional warm-up. With dynamic training and chase games, players reach physical and mental readiness quickly and the ground is laid for the session ahead.
A way of training that builds players’ scanning, reading and decision-making, and that should make up a far greater share of every session. Dynamic training asks more of the coach but does far more for game intelligence and match ability. It is the core of the Hobbit philosophy, refined over many years.
It looks like a simplified drill, yet it is the high-level tool that most tests a coach’s game intelligence, used across every age group and level. Simple, handy and always available. Master conditioned games and, on one level, you understand the game of football itself.
A few small tweaks dramatically lift players’ engagement and intrinsic drive while making sessions both fun and intense. A very simple, practical tool, and one of the easiest to pick up.
A good session is not a pile of teaching points but a clear, progressive through-line. Master how to order and connect them so every drill sets up the next, and players naturally understand, absorb and apply. This is what separates an “OK” session from a truly good one.
A very important theory session: a structured observation tool that helps coaches watch and review a session along clear dimensions. As the finale of the whole course, it brings back every detail of the earlier practical sessions, so that by observing the instructor’s words and actions in the first half you can review your own strengths and weaknesses as a coach.
