Drill library
Thirty soccer drills for youth coaches from U5 to U16, ten for passing, ten for dribbling and ten for defending. Each one is a game with a diagram, the setup, the rules, what to coach and the questions to ask.
10 drills
Ten passing games, from knocking down a cone tower to a 3v1 rondo.
10 drills
Ten dribbling games, from escaping the bib throwers to breaking away into open space.
10 drills
Ten defending games, from 1v1 body shape to pressure, cover and balance.
Every drill in this library is a game: there is a target to hit, a choice to make or an opponent to beat, so children practise the decisions a match asks of them. Each one lists the ages, numbers, space and time it needs, and how to make it easier or harder.
You have seen the other kind. A line of children behind a cone, one ball, a coach calling out the next name. It looks organised, and most of the time most of the children are waiting.
So every drill here follows three rules we call the 3L rule: no lines, no laps, no lectures. The ball rolls from the first minute, the game does the conditioning, and the rules do most of the teaching.
Pick a skill, then pick a drill by the ages and numbers on its card. The drills inside each skill run from the youngest and simplest to the oldest.
Any drill can become a whole practice: Hobbit plans the session around it for your age group, your numbers and your space.
