Session design
A complete training session from one sentence: the confirmation form, the generation, regenerating one block, exporting and saving.
Session design is the heart of Hobbit. You state the conditions of the session and it writes a plan you can take onto the pitch: the order of blocks, the minutes for each, the pitch layout, the coaching points, and a drill diagram for every block.
Two doors, same result: Session design in the sidebar, or just telling the chat "plan Wednesday's training".
The confirmation form
Before generating, a form appears. It is pre-filled with what Hobbit read from your message; you check it:
- Age group: U5 to U18. Format, numbers and constraints adjust to it; the youngest groups get small-sided games without goalkeepers, for example.
- Players: 6 to 24.
- Pitch: describe what you actually have: "20×15 m indoor hall", "half a full-size pitch".
- Duration: Hobbit · DGC defaults to 60 minutes and can be changed. The other four built-ins and your own standards have fixed minutes that follow the standard.
- Session standard: one of the five built-ins, or one you built. See "Five built-in structures" below and Session standards.
- Theme: passing, dribbling, 1v1, finishing, or your own words.
Constraints agreed in the chat come along: limited equipment, a particular game you want, things to avoid. Hobbit remembers the discussion, but what is written on the form is what is guaranteed.
Five built-in structures
The "session standard" on the confirmation form offers five built-ins, all 60 minutes, none of which you have to build. They are the skeleton of a session, not the method: whichever you choose, every block is filled with DGC content, with decisions, opponents and the feel of a match.
Hobbit · DGC, five blocks. Hobbit designs the first four one by one; the closing small-sided game is fixed. This is the one whose duration you can change, from 30 to 180 minutes: the extra or missing time lands on the three middle blocks, and the warm-up and the close barely move.
| Block | Minutes | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Warm-up | 10 | With a ball and decisions, no laps |
| Technical | 15 | The theme technique, under some pressure |
| Skill | 15 | The technique becomes a choice inside the game |
| Conditioned game | 15 | Rules that force the theme decision |
| Small-sided game | 5 | A free game to close, no interventions |
The other four follow the session shapes the federations publish, fixed at 60 minutes:
| Standard | Blocks | What it is like |
|---|---|---|
| England FA · Whole-Part-Whole | Arrival activity 10, Whole: Game 1 15, Part: Practice 15, Whole: Game 2 20 | Play the real game first to see where the theme breaks down, practise that in small groups, then go back to the game and use it |
| US Soccer · Play-Practice-Play | Play 1 15, Practice 25, Play 2 20 | Small games from the moment children arrive, play is the warm-up; the practice offers three challenge levels |
| DFB · Warm-up-Main-Close | Warm-up 15, Main part 30, Closing game 15 | The main part runs as two escalating forms: a tighter exercise form, then a game form with real opposition |
| KNVB · Rinus Session | Ball warm-up 10, Exercise 1 15, Exercise 2 15, Match form 20 | Both exercises are simplified from real match situations, and the second sits one step closer to the match than the first |
Pick the one that looks like the sessions your club runs. Once chosen, the confirmation form on that device starts on the same standard next time. To rename blocks, merge them or change the minutes, copy one into your own under Session standards.
While it generates
A session usually takes two to three minutes. The waiting panel shows what it is doing: settling the framework, working through each block (with "settled", "tried" and "tentative" states), then finalising the detail and diagrams, and finally writing, when the document appears a section at a time.
Keep the page open. Leaving or locking the phone may interrupt it. If it does, the chat shows a "session generation was interrupted" card; press it to regenerate.
After it generates
The plan is saved to Saved sessions automatically and attached to that day on the calendar. At the top of the plan:
- Modify a block: regenerate one block only, the others untouched. Say what you want: "too easy, make it a 5v5 at high intensity", "add a rule that you must pass three times before shooting", "shorten to 10 minutes". The new and old versions preview side by side; press "Adopt" when happy. The old version cannot be recovered after adopting.
- Edit text: change the wording of a passage directly.
- Export: PDF, a long image, or copy HTML. Choose the team to attach on export and its badge and name are printed on the plan.
- Save to library: a session generated in chat is saved with "Save".
The session library
"Saved sessions" is the library of every plan: browse by team, age group and theme, open, edit and export again. When the coach workspace binds a session to a training day, it picks from here.
Allowance
The free plan has 2 session generations in total, for life. Modifying a block counts as one. Pro is unlimited.
