Teams
Creating a team, importing a roster, the three parts of the team brain (profile, notes, files), and coaching more than one team.
Everything in Hobbit belongs to a team. The team page has three tabs: Team brain, Roster and Season.
Creating a team
Team in the sidebar, then "Create team".
- Name: anything you like. Hobbit never guesses the age from the name; the age group field is the authority.
- Age group: one number, U8 for example, never a range. Session format constraints and the public page's statistics depend on it.
- Founded: the public page shows "founded in" and the team's age.
- Public page address: cannot be changed after creation, so shared links stay valid forever. If it is taken, pick another.
- Badge and colour: upload a badge and its main colour is picked automatically; or choose one of eight colours, or a custom one. The team shows in that colour on the calendar.
Roster
Add players by hand: name, number, gender, birthdate, height and weight, preferred foot, position, joined date, parent name, phone and email, medical and other notes. Only the name is required.
AI import (Pro): hand it a spreadsheet, a sign-up sheet or a group chat list, in three steps: choose the source, let the AI read it, review and import. It recognises the fields above and can import several teams at once, matching the ones you already have.
Import from other teams: the same child on two of your teams comes across from the other team, sharing one profile.
The joined date is worth getting right: sessions before it are not that child's sessions. The attendance board marks them "not on the team yet" and the attendance rate is unaffected.
A player's full profile, attendance, appearances and fee account live under Players and fees.
Team brain
This tab is the team's memory, and Hobbit reads it before every session plan, preview, recap and debrief. The hint at the top of the page says exactly that: what is here goes into sessions, previews, recaps and debriefs.
Philosophy and introduction: how you play, what you value, what you tell parents. This is the most valuable paragraph you will write.
Team notes (Pro): things you told Hobbit, kept until you delete them. "Thursdays we only have half a pitch, plan for 30×20", "Sam's mum wants him encouraged to ask for the ball". Add them here, or say "remember..." in the chat.
Memories (Pro): the key learnings Hobbit distilled from this team's debriefs, stamped with the date. Edit or delete them.
Files (Pro): curricula, photos, match video; drag them in. Hobbit reads the text inside documents and PDFs, so "what does our curriculum say for week three" gets an answer in the chat. 5 GB per team. After a subscription lapses, files are removed on the date shown.
Season
The season at a glance: every event, and what is still missing (no attendance taken, no result recorded, no debrief). Below it, "Season stats": attendance, results, each player's appearances.
Public page
"Public team page" at the top right of the team page is the link for parents. See Public team page.
More than one team
Every team has its own brain, calendar and public page; U8 and U14 never mix. Switch in the sidebar. In the chat, naming the team is enough to say which team you mean.
The free plan includes one team; Pro is unlimited.
Coaching staff
A team has one coach account today. Several coaches sharing one team is not built yet.
